Apparently, "life’s more fun when it’s small and square", which is lucky, since that’s just what Philips new range of MP3 players are. The range of teeny weeny square-shaped music players are available in four models - 4GB SA2845, 2GB SA2825, 4GB SA2840 and 2GB SA2820. The latter two are both non-FM versions (for those of you who aren’t into having people interrupt their music listening with jarring and unfunny remarks).
All models include Philip’s patented FullSound technology, along with high quality headphones, specially tuned to maximise the player’s sound quality. In fact, the Go Gear MP3 players are packed with all kinds of technological gubbins designed to enhance the player’s sound quality and prove that good things come in small packages.
No dedicated software is required and you simply transfer your music via drag’n'drop using a USB 2.0 connection. You’ll get around 20 hours of playback and all for a reasonable price - between £29.99 - £44.99.

Philips on Friday unveiled its latest cellular phone, the dual-band GSM M600. The M600 is meant to appeal to music fans, as it offers SRS Labs‘ WOW equalizer technology to enhance sound quality and simulate 3D surround sound in the MP3, WAV and AAC format files it supports. Otherwise, the phone is optimized for music listening with dedicated navigation hotkeys, and an included set of in-ear headphones as well as up to 40 hours of music playback.
A Bluetooth 2.0 A2DP connection allows for hands-free headset calling or syncing with other devices. Files are stored on a microSD card.
The M600’s other features include a 2-inch, 170×220-pixel, 256K color display while a 1.3-megapixel camera can shoot stills as well as MPEG4-video. Java MIDP 2.0 support allows for gameplay while simple web browsing is accomplished via the WAP 2.0/xHTML interface.
For now, only China is to get the M600, though the phone also allows T9 text input in English, French, Russian or Turkish. No prices have been announced.

Philips has recently formed an alliance with RealNetworks to bring Rhapsody to its GoGear MP3 players. RealNetworks’ Rhapsody is like a all-you-can-eat music bar, so you can grab unlimited amount of songs given you keep your subscription alive for $14.99 a month. So far, Sandisk and iriver are the ones with players backing the service; Philips makes it the third. Designated SA52×5BT, the $139 DAP also comes with a 2.8" LCD and built-in Bluetooth, which allows the player to pair with a set of wireless headphones and to share files wirelessly with a PC (or maybe another DAP).

Philips are still bashing away at the MP3 player market. Allow us to introduce the SA9345 and SA9325 which are the 4GB and 2GB versions of their latest offerings, just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
The higher specced SA9345 is a flash memory based MP4 player, measures 9cm long, weighs 48g and has a 1.8-inch colour LCD screen.
