Attachable iPod speakers are nearly as old as the DAP itself, but NEONECO may actually be onto something with its swing speaker. Rather than simply tapping into the iPod’s headphone jack and hoping that listeners have canine-like hearing abilities, this unit includes its own source of power — a rechargeable battery. This enables the stereo speakers to be louder than passive alternatives, though we can’t speak for the sound quality. It’s available now in South Korea for ₩29,000 ($29; iPod nano), ₩32,000 ($32; iPod classic) or ₩35,000 ($35; iPod touch).

After a long time we have something useful from Thanko Japan. The DTLMP42G has a 2.8 inch screen supporting a resolution of 400×240 pixels. The unit has 2GB of onboard flash memory which can be further extended with a Micro SD card. The PMP can play majority of media formats including DivX (AVI) /RM/RMVB and FLV files ripped from online video websites along with MP3 / WMA and JPEG files. In addition to this it can record in WAV format. It connects to the host via USB for file transfer and charging. The battery is good for 4 hours of video and 10 hours of audio playback. The Thanko DTLMP42G PMP will sell in Japan from July 24 for 8980 Yen ($ 90).

Bored of the Apple Nano the Creative Zen Mosaic is here with a breath of fresh air. The controls reminds me of the Nokia 7500 Prism. Coming to the specifications the Zen Mosaic packs in a 1.8 inch screen with a resolution of 128×160 pixels, Voice recorder and built in speakers. It supports playback of MP3, WMA, AVI and can JPEG files. Like all Creative media devices it too comes with a FM tuner. It connects to the host via USB 2.0 and for now is only Windows compatible. The onboard Lithium battery is good for 32 hours of audio and 5 hours of video playback. Creative has also announced the ‘TravelSound ZEN Mozaic’ (pictured after the jump) a docking station. (More images and press release after the jump) The Creative Zen Mosaic will be available in 2 ($ 90), 4 ($ 110) and 8GB ($ 140) capacities and will come in black, pink and silver. The unit measures 79.5×40.0×12.8mm and weighs 28 grams.

The Cowon Q5(W) has been the flagship of all MP3 players for a while, offering and costing more than anything else out there. The successor is now official, and will be called the P5.
The P5 will of course have an impressive feature list, which includes (draws breath): 5" 800×480 pixel LCD haptic touch screen, FM tuner, TV output, speaker, Bluetooth, USB host, games, DMB-T TV tuner (US version will definitely not have this) and optional Wifi module. It will come in 40, 60 and 80GB versions running a 700mhz CPU and a Windows CE 5.0 core. While 14 hours for audio isn’t very impressive, the stated 9 hours for video certainly is and the device supports pretty much any audio and video format there is. If and when a US version will come out is unknown, but expect it to be priced like it’s predecessor, meaning it won’t be cheap.
