The iDS-01NRX MP3 speaker-dock is just £39.99 yet produces a respectable 12 watts, and has touch controls and a credit card sized remote control. Intempo tell us it was a best seller over Christmas and now this bright pink version ought to go down well for Valentine’s Day. It’s a compact unit and there’s a standard 3.5mm stereo line-in jack so if you’re toting a non-Apple MP3 player you can still delight in all that fuchsia goodness.

The Mobile Power Station is being sold as a nice little media player, only, thanks to the Chinese and their total lack of respect for international copyright agreements, it comes with NES, Game Boy and Game Boy Colour emulators pre-installed by the kindly factory workers.
Hardly the most cutting edge of gaming hardware without even Game Boy Advance support, but with a 3.5" screen, e-book playback powers and 2GB of memory space, it’s a more than acceptable media player in its own right.
Plus the solar panels can be used to charge your other gadgets via a USB output socket. Which would win it today’s Genius Gadget of the Day award, were such an award to exist.

This one doesn’t have a name. It’s just referred to as the “Tactile MP3″ player. Why tactile? Simply because the 5 basic controls necessary to master your music are raised bumps, something like braille. The idea is you can control your music all by the sense of touch. Design wise, it’s pretty slick, like a dollop of shiny mercury backed by some creamy marshmallow puff.

Samsung’s YP-K5 is generally a well-received MP3 player, thanks to its ‘top notch’ hardware and ‘better-than-expected’ built-in speakers. Though, you have to live with its bulky size, limited speakers’ use and its lack of video playback capability.
Samsung comes up with YP-S5 this time around; the refreshed DAP is basically a slimmed-down version of the K5 with some new tricks. While the S5 retains the slide-out 1500mW stereo speakers, its thickness is now 14.95mm, 17% thinner than its predecessor. Samsung also puts back TFT LCD to improve readability under sunlight, and adds MPEG-4 video player. The most notable addition is Bluetooth A2DP support, allowing S5 to double as a wireless speakerphone or speakers for compatible devices, such as cellphones. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn’t a larger capacity version other than 4GB for the new dual-use DAP.
