Best Buy Kicks-off the Insignia Kix

insignia_kix2 Insignia isn’t your typical "no-name" company that you’ll find at your local electronics retailer. Best Buy’s in-house brand has released a respectable array of players over the last two years. The latest is the Kix, a basic flash player with a built-in USB plug. The design breaks away from the the slim rectangular form-factor of previous players, and goes for a more sporty look and feel.
On the features side, there isn’t anything particularly new about it. It has a 1.0" color screen, support for MP3, WMA, WAV, and Audible, and an FM tuner. It will run for approximately 30 hours from a lithium-ion battery, and will thankfully be a UMS/MSC device. The Kix also comes with 2 extra USB caps in various colors, for those that like to change it up every now and then. For now, the only capacity is 1GB, which retails for $59.99.

Kinwei KW-P4 PMP

kinwei The KW-P4 075 from Kinwei Technologies keeps it simple with its no-frills approach to layout and design. Its stark and heavily utilitarian appearance was made to pose a good counterpoint to the often cluttered/gaudy looks of new PMPs. Either that, or the R&D team decided to make a real product out of half-conceived sketches on a restaurant napkin.

The device displays MTV and AWV videos, and JPEG, GIF and BMP images, on its 2.4-inch TFT screen. MP1, MP2, MP3 and WMA audio files are supported, and e-book, FM radio and gaming functionality are built-in. Available in black and white variants, the KW-P4 075 comes with seven EQ modes and goes up to 2GB of memory capacity. Input is done through a touch-sensitive keypad.

Intempo iDS-05 iPod speaker system

REVIEW-2683-9f2023dce0b9ec6ffe05fbe04629d392 The iDS-05 is the latest docking station and 2.1 speaker system to launch from Intempo, but does it match up to previous efforts? We get listening to find out.
Where in the past Intempo has gone for tall monolithic designs or ones that look like footballs, the iDS-05 is fairly conventional in its approach.
Described by the company as the iDS-01’s big brother, the iDS-05 offers 2x 15 watt stereo speakers and a 9 watt subwoofer in a desk friendly 230 x 122 x 940mm in size.
The glossy design lets you sit your iPod in the front in between the two speakers, while connections such as USB, a 3.5mm line in and power sockets are around the back. There are no buttons, just a light that changes from red to blue when on.
