It’s a fantastic design and feels solid and well built in the hand. The swivel wheel, the focus point of the controls on the player, has two operational modes; ‘normal’ and ‘folder’. The former is a simple track search/skip control, but the folder mode allows you to instantly switch between songs according to a sort category you can set up from the main menu. This gives you an extra dimension in instant browsing and works extremely well.

The excellent audio delivered by the NW-S706 is in no small part down to the bud earphones supplied, which deliver sound directly into your ear while forming a seal to keep out ambient noise.
The result is beautifully crisp and clear audio alongside thumping bass, creating a totally immersive soundstage.

The iAudio 6 is the latest addition to the iAudio family produced by Cowon. Following the same naming system as the popular iAudio 4 and 5, people expected the i6 to be a flash based memory MP3 player. This is not the case though – the player uses an 0.85 inch hard drive produced by the company Toshiba.
Cowon is the first company to use this hard drive technology in their mp3 players, the advantage being that flash memory is currently still more expensive than a hard drive.
