It’s a fantastic design and feels solid and well built in the hand. The swivel wheel, the focus point of the controls on the player, has two operational modes; ‘normal’ and ‘folder’. The former is a simple track search/skip control, but the folder mode allows you to instantly switch between songs according to a sort category you can set up from the main menu. This gives you an extra dimension in instant browsing and works extremely well.

The excellent audio delivered by the NW-S706 is in no small part down to the bud earphones supplied, which deliver sound directly into your ear while forming a seal to keep out ambient noise.

The result is beautifully crisp and clear audio alongside thumping bass, creating a totally immersive soundstage.

The Walkman is billed as shipping with “noise cancelling technology,” courtesy of “high value EX headphones” with the player promising a healthy 50 Hours battery life backed up by a quick charge function.

The player also touts a USB 2.0 interface for the nippy transfer of tunes from the user’s PC.

Cowon iAudio 6 4 GB MP3 Player Review

    iaudio6mainlarge.jpg

The iAudio 6 is the latest addition to the iAudio family produced by Cowon. Following the same naming system as the popular iAudio 4 and 5, people expected the i6 to be a flash based memory MP3 player. This is not the case though – the player uses an 0.85 inch hard drive produced by the company Toshiba.

Cowon is the first company to use this hard drive technology in their mp3 players, the advantage being that flash memory is currently still more expensive than a hard drive.

    Features

  • Movie Player enjoy MPEG4 (video Playback) & JPEG (Picture files)
  • 1.3” 260,000 Colour display
  • Supports MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV, OFF, FLAC and WMA DRM music files
  • BBE – the world’s most powerful sound fields (5 Band EQ, BBE, Mach3Bass, MP Enhanc, 3D Surround and Pan)
  • USB On the GO (OTG) transfer pictures direct from your digital camera to the iAudio 6
  • DRM10 Compatible
  • 20 hour continuous Playback from a single full charge
  • High Speed USB 2.0
  • High Quality Voice Recording
  • Direct Encoding (Line-in)
  • Line in Recording
  • FM Radio
